Serena Mix Angelonia

The Hottest Plants For The Heat

These plants don’t just beat the heat – they are heavyweight champs during the hottest Summer months!

No matter where you live, these varieties thrive in hot and/or dry conditions. (Although if you live in the Southern U.S., you may have to water more often than your gardening counterparts in the North.)

  • Angelonia – Both the AngelMist® and Serena® series feature a multitude of flower colors with strong stems that stand up to humid Summer days. Choose from spreading types for baskets or compact varieties for containers and garden beds.
  • Begonia – Big, bold and beautiful are the best words to describe Dragon Wing® Begonia. The dark green, dragon wing-shaped leaves make these plants stand out from the same old begonias. And for a smaller version with the same excellent garden performance, try BabyWing®. Plant both series in the shade and watch them thrive!
    Kong® Salmon Pink Coleus
  • Coleus – It’s hard to choose which coleus to plant because this type of foliage variety comes in so many colors, shapes and patterns. But that’s what makes this heat-loving plant so cool!
  • Lantana – This plant is known for its heat tolerance – which is why you can find Lantana in many parts of the Southern U.S. And not only does it love heat and humidity, but Lantana is drought tolerant, too. Both the Lucky™ and Landmark™ series have consistent garden performance in colors ranging from bright yellows to creamy whites.
  • Ornamental Pepper – For something out-of-the-ordinary, put a little pep in your planting! There are many different types of ornamental pepper with a variety of fruit and foliage colors. If you have pets and/or small children, Sangria is a perfect plant because the fruit is non-pungent.
  • Pentas – Pretty Butterfly Pentas provide gardeners with brightly colored flower clusters
    Butterfly White Pentas
featuring star-shaped blooms all season long. Plus, they are very attractive to hummingbirds and butterflies, so you get to sit back and enjoy watching the fluttering creatures frolic in your garden.
  • Vinca – Vinca always adds some va-va-voom to the garden because it’s perfect for sunny landscapes and containers of all types. And the Titan series offers some fun colors to choose from – including novelty colors like Blush, Lavender Blue Halo and Polka Dot.
