Sun-loving plants are those that thrive with lots of sunlight. Full sun means at least 8 hours of sun per day. A garden that faces Southwest (in North America) generally receives the most sunlight because it receives sun all afternoon.
For some flowers, the intense heat of the afternoon sun is too much, and part shade in the afternoon is better. For those plants, a garden that faces Southeast would be the best location.
